How do you feel about your birthday? Do you look forward to it and remind all your friends, or do you dread it and try to keep it a secret?
I love my birthday!!! It wasn't until I was in my mid-20's that I started to have birthday parties, so I am excited about my birthday every year!
I only remember having one party as a child...that was for my 11th birthday. I had a Barbie doll cake! :) The top half was a Barbie, and the dress was all cake and icing. Too cool. :)
I am looking forward to my next two birthdays...even though they mean I will be 30 soon. I turn 29 this year! We will either be celebrating by having a UFC party or by taking a trip out of town to a cool strip club! Haven't decided yet. :) I will let you know once I decide. :)
And by my 30th birthday I will be a R.N. with a Bachelor's degree!!! The closer I get to 30, the more confident I become...so I am actually looking forward to turning the big 3-0! :)
What do you do with the cards and letters you receive? Do you keep them all, just keep the photos, throw them away?
Inspired by jacolily.
I usually keep 'em. I have cards that were sent to me when I was a child. :) &&& I keep every card that Scott gives me. I want take all the cards, letters, etc I have and make a cool scrapbook one day.
Who is ringing in the New Year with you? Who do you wish could be with you, but isn't there?
I honestly do not know. For sure Scott and Claudia. Not sure who else we will be with. Could be Sarah and Scott's mom. Could be our friends Jeff and Ellen. Could be our friend Anita. Could be some weird combo of all of them! I just do not know. I will have to just post a blog tomorrow letting you know who we were with. :)
I wish Quinn could be here. I miss him terribly. He spent his 21st birthday in the sand, and he will also be ringing in the new year in the sand (in Iraq). I wish I could give him a BIG hug and wish him a happy new year in person.
I also wish we could be with my brother, his wife and their kids. We used to spend two weekends a month with them.... This year we have only seen them one time. Makes me sad. Life got too busy and we just haven't been able to connect. Hopefully we will see them more next year.
What are your irrational fears?

- If you mean funny little freak out stuff.... (scream then laugh type stuff)
- tree roaches
- spiders
- If you mean phobia type stuff...
- heights - have major issues with bridges, escalators, roller coasters, floor-to-ceiling windows in an office building, that type stuff. i seriously will freak out. i also walk near the wall in a stairwell so that i cannot see down below.
- water - don't like going under water. i don't even like to put my face under the shower stream, but i make myself. this one isn't too bad. i can enjoy a boat ride in a big enough boat :)
- going fast - as in roller coaster, vehicle over the speed limit, etc. i have gotten better about this since we live in the city and we are on the road daily, but i still freak out in traffic. going to places like Houston are especially bad for me due to the heavy volume of speeding cars and traffic!
- funnily enough, needles. :) i hate hate hate to get a shot. i can deal with a lot better now, but i still freak out the night before. i pass out every time i have to have blood drawn..which luckily hasn't been since Claudia was little! i am just not good with the feeling. i can give a shot with no problem though! :) i have given between 10 and 15 injections in the hospital and i am sure that number is going to go up considerably after next semester. :)
Show us what makes you unique.
It is one of the many things that make me unique.
The heart shaped nevi (mole) you see below my earring is another thing. :)
List five reasons (at least) why you are awesome.

1. Overall, I am quite optimistic about most things. I always try to look on the bright side of things. It's good to find a way to laugh about something if you can.
2. I have good fashion sense, and I use it! I am not trendy, but I like to use parts of the new trends.
3. I am not abrasive in anyway. I have a soothing personality. :) Sounds weird, I know. But I do. I tend to calm those around me.
4. I am computer/internet savvy. I love love love being online! I can find just about anything online if I set my mind to it. I can also fix most problems, as long as they aren't hardware issues. I haven't gotten into that stuff yet. :)
5. I am going to make an awesome nurse because I give a shit! I know that my patients are people. They have lives and families. They are a part of someones life. They are human beings with infinite value.

Have you figured out what your (or your kids') Halloween costume will be this year? What's it going to be?
I don't participate in Halloween right now. We are too broke to buy costumes, so we only have Claudia dress up. She isn't sure what she wants to be. She mentioned a zombie, and a zombie doctor the other day. :) She has to decide this week, cuz next weekend she is going to a Halloween party with a friend of mine! I will update once she choose a costume!
